Our Process including Timeline
Licence Preparation (Weeks 1 to 2)
Compile supporting documents: proof of trading, HR systems evidence, key personnel appointments. With complete records this can take as little as five working days.Â
Home Office Processing (Weeks 2 to 10)
UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) processes the Sponsorship Licence application within approximately eight weeks. A pre-licence compliance visit may occur.Â
Licence Granted: CoS Requested (Weeks 10 to 11)
SMS account is activated. Defined CoS requested for the specific hire. UKVI typically responds within five to seven working days. The 3-month assignment window then begins.Â
Visa Application Submitted (Weeks 11 to 14)
Applicant completes the online application, pays the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) and visa fee, and books the biometric appointment. B2 English evidence required for new applicants from January 2026.Â
Decision and UK Entry (Weeks 14 to 17)
Standard processing: approximately 3 weeks. Priority service: 5 working days. On grant, the applicant can then travel. Evisa confirming their right to work and live in the UK) is issued within 10 working days of arrival. The Individual applicant can then begin work from their CoS start date.Â

What is the Skilled Worker route?
What is a Skilled Worker visa?
A Skilled Worker visa is the permission granted to an individual to enter or remain in the UK for a sponsored role. The applicant needs a valid Certificate of Sponsorship, must meet salary and skill level requirements, and must demonstrate English language proficiency. The visa can be granted for up to five years and can lead to settlement after five years of continuous residence.Â
How long can I stay out of the UK on a Skilled Worker visa?
While on a Skilled Worker visa, there is no strict limit on how long you can be outside the UK during your visa validity. However, if you intend to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), you must not have spent more than 180 days outside the UK in any single 12-month period during the qualifying 5-year period. Exceeding this limit may reset your qualifying period. It is important to keep accurate records of all travel dates, as the Home Office will check your absences at the ILR stage.Â
Does my business need a license? 
If you intend to employ a non-British or non-Irish citizen who requires a visa to work, you must hold a valid license. This applies across all sectors and business sizes. Â
What are employers' legal responsibilities? 
Holding a license is a “privilege, not a right.” You must maintain strict records, perform robust right-to-work checks, and report certain employee changes (like a change in job title or salary) via the Sponsorship Management System (SMS). Â
Note: Failure to comply can lead to your license being suspended or revoked, which would end the right of all your sponsored staff to remain in the UK. Â
Who is eligible for a UK Skilled Worker visa?
To be eligible for a UK Skilled Woker Visa, you must secure a job offer from a UK employer that holds a valid sponsorship licence. You must also meet the minimum skill level, salary and English language requirements.Â
What are the 2026 English Language requirements? 
As of January 8, 2026, the English language standard for new applicants has been raised to CEFR Level B2 (Upper-Intermediate). You can prove this through an approved test, a degree taught in English, or if you are a national of a majority English-speaking country. Â
What is a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)? 
A CoS is not a physical paper document; it is a unique electronic reference number generated by your employer. It proves to the Home Office that the job you’ve been offered is genuine and meets all the legal requirements for sponsorship. You cannot apply for your visa without this number. Â
Can my family join me? 
Yes. This visa allows your partner and dependent children to apply for Dependant Visas. They will have the right to live, work, and study in the UK for the same duration as your visa.  Â
What happens after 5 years of Skilled Worker visa?
After completing 5 continuous years on a Skilled Worker visa, you may be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), provided you meet all the requirements. These currently include demonstrating continuous lawful residence, not having been absent for more than 180 days in any 12-month period, meeting the salary threshold, passing the Life in the UK test, and meeting the English language requirement (currently B1 for settlement, but rising to B2 from 26 March 2027). Â
Is there an interview for a UK Skilled Worker visa?
In most cases, there is no formal interview for a Skilled Worker visa application. The decision is made based on the documents submitted. However, UKVI reserves the right to request an interview if there are concerns about the genuineness of the application, the role, or the employer’s compliance. Credibility interviews are more common for certain visa categories, such as Student visas, but Skilled Worker applicants should be prepared to answer questions about their role, employer, and qualifications if asked.Â
